Thank you so much for putting info out there about fissures.
I went through 4 months of hell recently because my doctor misdiagnosed my fissure as hemroids. I was going through chemo at the time and she believed it was a side effect of the chemo. I kept trying to tell her that it wasn't only to be told I was a mental case. I finally ended up in the emergency room and she gave me pain pills and sent me on my way. After 4 months of hell, my husband demanded that I see a colorectal doctor. She knew instantly what my problem was since I had all the classic signs of a fissure. She proceeded to tell me that it wasn't all in my head and I really did have a severe problem. I cried when I heard that because someone finally listened to me and believed the pain I was in. She told me many doctors pass this problem off as hemroids. She even told me about one patient that a doctor put on psych medicine for a year because he thought she was making her fissure up!!!!
Please tell people to keep trying until they get someone to listen. I wouldn't wish my 4 months of agony on my worst enemy. Keep demamding that something be done until you find someone who believes in you and wants to help. When you really listen to your body you know when you are sick. I hope this helps someone get the help they need so they don't suffer unnecessarily like I had to.
