The tide level at the Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station, like other sites, is often significantly different than the published tide predictions.
The tide levels are affected by the winds, rainfall, atmospheric pressure, creek flow rates, and other things. The first plot below shows the
measured and predicted tide levels at the Palo Alto Sailing Station in the Baylands Park in Palo Alto.
The three plots below it are from the NOAA
San Francisco Bay Operational Forecast System (SFBOFS) hydrodynamic model predictions.
The last three plots show the tide levels at the Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station for yesterday, the day before yesterday, and the last seven days. They are helpful
for understanding the variations of the observed tide levels from the predicted levels and estimating what might happen today.
The details of the six plots below are described on the Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station Tides Information page.
Today's tide levels at Palo Alto Baylands Sailing Station
NOAA San Francisco Bay OFS hydrodynamic model predictions for tides at
Coyote Creek which
is located 4.2 miles ENE of the Palo Alto Baylands dock
NOAA San Francisco Bay OFS hydrodynamic model predictions for tides at the
Dumbartan Bridge
at the North East side of the channel.
This site is located 3.5 miles NNW of the Palo Alto Baylands dock.
NOAA San Francisco Bay OFS hydrodynamic model predictions for tides at the
Port of Redwood City.
This site is located 7.0 miles NW of the Palo Alto Baylands dock.
The Port of Redwood City predictions are included because that is the closest site with observed tide levels included in the plot and is useful
for seeing the model's accuracy.
